WLC week 7!
Unfortunately there won't be a video this week, tonight i need to wind down and relax, im going to put my pj's on in a minute (its 5:30!) and get in bed, possibly play some xbox and watch pointless tv.

The reason for my laziness? I'm having a root canal treatment done tomorrow and i have a HUGE fear of the dentist, just thinking about it whilst writing this is making me feel really sick! Every now and then i suffer from anxiety attacks (shortness of breath, feeling sick, crying, etc) and the only way i can keep them under control is to just not think about things and stay in bed!
So anyway, huge appologies for the lack of video-action! if i can do one later in the week i will...
This week i have stayed exactly the same, reason being that i had a mcdonalds and a bag of butter fudge throughout the week. I'll openly admit my head hasn't been 'in the game', ive been completely freaked out about the dentists tomorrow! I'm back in the game as of today and trying harder than ever!!
This weeks challenge is to tell me how you deal with those 'sod it, im just going to binge' moments'? How do you control yourself and your cravings?
Hope you all have a fantastic week, im off to continue being a quivering wreck, only in bed as opposed to at a desk!

Today was a productive day!
I got hair extensions!!
No...they aren't glued in....
Nope, not shitty clip ins that will fall out either!!
They're sewn!
First i went to a hair supply place and bought a pack of 16" human hair, then i went to an afro-carribean salon to have my hair weaved and the extensions sewn in!

First they section off the hair and plait in a 'track' this is basically a very very very very small, and very tight french plait, probably about half a centimetre wide! THIS BIT HURTS! I've had extensions sewn in many a time before and trust me, i dont think you ever get used to the pain of having the tracks done! Then they take the weft of hair and sew it on top of the little plait/track! The result? nice, tight, long, really secure extensions that can be washed, curled, conditioned and straightened just as you wish! Its not particularly cheap, neither is it the £600+ you pay for glue in bonds!
I adore them, the colour match is absolutely perfect!

What do you reckon blog land? I'm in looooove with my weave! haha! At the moment its settling so my head is throbbing a bit and they're suuuuper tight but thats a good thing! They last up to three months...
Oh and i chose to go to an A-C salon because ive found the technique to be a lot better than a 'white' salon, the girls are fantastic and really know what they're doing :) Thank you Sherina!

Rihanna Inspired...
Continuing with my little celeb trend this weekend, heres a bright blue Rihanna inspired look i just created. This seems to be a look that Rihanna sports a lot, electric blue eyeshadow, eyeliner and bright pink lips! I think its really cute, once again i've toned it down a little for work :)

I took a million photos of this look but kept chopping bits of my head off (as you can see) or not setting the focus right! Very annoying but you get the idea in the few goo shots i got!
What do you think? would you wear electric colours on your eyes or do you like to keep it neutral?

Lady Gaga Inspired
After having bad romance in my head all day and all night AND being desperate for Gaga Viva Glam Lipstick i decided to base tonights work make-up on Gaga herself! This was based on the poker face video and seeing as i didnt want to glue stuff to my face and wear a wig, its relatively toned down :)
p.s - im awful at taking photos, one is only half of my face by accident, lavely!

aaaand half of my p-p-p-p-poker face!

On my face i have a VERY thin layer of mac studio fix fluid and mac creme blush in so sweet so easy with red herring shimmer bricks dusted over the top
On my eyes, mac e/s in dazzlelight as a highlight, the silver from the Sleek 'Curious' pallette all over the lid and then mac e/s in smoke and diamonds very lightly in the outer corner. Team that with some liquid liner and Girls Aloud Nicola lashes and you might as well be in a leotard ;)
My lips are bare (but will soon be coated with macs creme cup lipstick) and i dusted some silver glitter over the lashes before i put them on, the flash has bounced off it which is why my eyeliner looks a bit funky haha!

Benefit Georgia...
Benefit isn't really a brand i 'get' i suppose, i don't like to slate brands too much or say bad things because i fully understand that everyone is different, and what doesn't work for me may work for others...
That said, I hate Benefit! I've owned:
foundations (too orange!)
concealers (too dark!)
mascaras (dry out quickly, massively over priced)
lip sticks (only last two minutes, very drying)
eyeliners (they're alright, but again, ridiculously expensive for what they are)
and lipglosses (sticky, messy, expensive, not very pigmented)
One thing i have always refused to buy is their little boxes of blusher/bronzer etc... Yes they look incredibly cute and i'd love to try Sugarbomb but for me £23 for a cardboard box is ridiculous! Anyway, my housemate bought Georgia a while back (she clearly didnt have me with her for advice ;) haha!) and i decided to have a fiddle with it today... here goes:
First up, the packaging:

Verity keeps this in her make-up bag, so its not just knocking about it her handbag, and look at the state of it! the box is battered and dog eared.. not cool. Shes gutted its in that state because it cost her so much money!

What i will say is that this smells really nice! hahaha!
My face with no blusher or anything at all:

In true Cat fashion i hadn't done my hair (check out the frizz!) and im still wearing Stews t-shirt from bed! oh well! nothing like showing people no one looks perfect all that time ;) if ever in my case!
My face with Georgia applied (actually quite heavily!!):

errrrr... where is it?!!!!
My face with georgia and a bit of borjouis blusher over the top:

My cheeks are quite red naturally so i try to only apply blush etc lightly or i just end up looking hot/flushed! However Georgia literally does not show up on my skin at all, i'd say the only thing it does (if anything) is gives my skin a bit of a glow.. something i could achieve for half the price, if not less!
Although Georgia smells really good and looks really pretty, you actually can't see it on the skin! im NC15 so its not like my skin is too dark for it to show up!
People seem to have had really good experiences with coralista and thrrrob and i do love the look of them on the cheeks but the packaging still really puts me off investing over £20 in one of these...
I adore the look of Benefit packaging (the compacts are really cute!) but for me the prices are just too high and the products aren't effective enough to warrant me spending that sort of money!
What about you? have you had really good or really bad experiences with Benefit? I'd love to know if i'm alone in this or if its a problem a lot of girls/women have?
Sorry this was negative! do not buy georgia! haha :)

Finally, some good news!!
I woke up bleary eyed and achey this morning, tidied my room and checked my emails... after double checking and rubbing my eyes a thousand times i realised i have been nominated for 'The Everyday Woman Award' in the UK Beauty Blog and Blog Awards! uhhhhh... WHAT!! If you've ever played Viva Pinata then you'll know the dance they do when they get excited... If i was a pinata, i would have done that!! The other day we lost our dream flat, and when we phoned the letting agency we discovered they only really had 3 properties left!! Cue panic mode! This was just the news i needed this morning :)
I'm so happy and excited! I put so much into this blog, you know when my make-up is good, when its bad... when one of my housemates moves out, when i eat too much..what im wearing, what im earting... hahaha! you lot know everything and i like it that way, i hate dishonest people or people who keep secrets, i rarely get sent products (bothered? not me.) so my opinions can always be trusted (well.. after you've read 'i got sent this' on 10 posts out of 12, you get suspicious right?).
Anyway! Basically i've been nominated for the award and would like to ask you all to pleaaaaaase vote for me!!
You can vote for me by clicking here and putting in the Voting ID for my Blog which is:
EWA1089
Not only would it absolutely make my day if you were lovely enough to vote for me, but you can also win a Voters Prize which is a hamper full of over £100 worth full of beauty and make-up goodies!
Now, back to all of the other emails....

A little music rave :)
Its not very often that i talk about music on here and that irritates me, because if im honest its far better than make-up! I've banged on about Mouthwash more times than i can count... and also The Skints! But i thought i'd 'bang on' about some other stuff today, i feel like a change!
Ska music is something i've never been without in my life, my mum was an absolute madness freak and had her punk phase where she shaved her whole head apart from her fringe, then dyed her fringe green! With bands like The King Blues getting bigger every day, Ska is finally getting the recognition it deserves! Although, dont get me started on The King Blues, they've completely and utterly sold out to the point where you cant watch TV or go into Topshop without hearing one of their songs. Annoying.
Anyway, at heart i'm a big fan of the whole 'rap' thing. Although i have more Blink 182 than Dizzee Rascal on my iPod ;) One of my favourite artists of all time in this specific genre is Plan B. How many of you just thought 'who?', lots i bet! Plan B has worked with bands like Hadouken! and various others over the years but his album 'Who needs actions when you got words' remains a solid favourite amongst many to this day, i bet most of you have heard 'Charmaine' without even realising who the artist was...
Anyway i'm talking shit. What i really really want to rave about is the Pendulum and Plan B collaboration that has just stormed onto the music scene with a smoke bomb and a baseball bat, it hits you in the face when you're least expecting it! I am a true Pendulum oldie, i'd been listening to them for years when In Silico came out and everyone was like 'OMG PENDULUM I LOVE DRUM N BASS!' ahaa, errr... anyway.. a good friend of Stews gave us a heads up about this absolutel tune and i literally haven't stopped listening to it since. Plan B's voice really does make everything sound better, he isnt trying to sound 'g' or different, its just him. You can find his website here and here is the song in question:
I know it may not be to everyones taste but it really is one of my favourite tracks of all time, I'm hoping that when i go and see Pendulum in May Mr B himself will grace us with his presence and perform this track with the band! I'd probably wet my pants!
On the note of me seeing Pendulum in may, heres a little video of how huge it was when i saw them at Reading 2008... i'm somewhere in the middle of that crowd wearing pink sunglasses and with orange and green paint all over me... not that you'll see me! If you get the chance to see pendulum any time soon, take it. This was one of the best atmospheres i have ever been part of and i doubt london 2010 will beat it.
">
I literally have just got goosebumps watching that video back! aaaahhhh..
Did i mention i fainted twice in this crowd? gimme that.

Tried and tested: The products I couldn't live without
First of all let me appologise for the google pictures, my brain appears to have forgotten that cameras need charging sometimes... buhhh!!
Anyway, this is just a short list of products that i have been using every single day for god knows how long now.. they're products that actually work and that i will repurchase over and over, and over again! Hopefully it'll be useful for those of you who have emailled me asking me for product recommendations recently :)
First up, the face:
Mac studio fix fluid:

^obviously that isnt the shade i use! the image is from the mac website! I use shade NC15 in this foundation, its the palest shade they do! I swear i could do with NC10! I bought my first bottle of this last april and it ran out about two days ago *cue back up bottle!* i use it roughly every day (although NARS sheer glow does get a look in sometimes) and its fantastic. As most of you know i work in a bar and often do shifts from 8pm-4am, studio fix fluid doesnt budge under the harsh lights behing the bar, all the running about, drinks spilt, sweat from dancing (naaaaice) etc so this definately passes the test :) i'll be doing an M-UA course in march and i already know my kit is going to be rammed with these little bottles :)
Mascara and liquid eyeliner:

Hooray for my 'sunday face' in the above picture ey? Yup, thats what i look like right this minute, awesome. all i have on is studio fix fluid and some eyeliner and mascara! At the moment my favourite one to use is rimmel exaggerate liquid liner and Maybelline full'n'soft mascara :) I think mascara and eyeliner really open up the eyes and make it look like you've made a huge effort even if it only took you two minutes, plus the eyeliner makes your lashes look even fuller, fab if you don't have time for falsies ;)
Other honourable mentions for fab mascaras/eyeliners:
*Collection 2000 liquid liner
*Rimmel glam eyes mascara
*Mac zoom lash
*Mac penultimate liner
*L'oreal telescopic mascara
Soap&Glory Hair Supply:

As my desperate quest for long hair continues, this is definately helping! I'm trying to use as little heat as possible on my hair and condition it with this or Tigi Bedhead Dumb Blonde Reconstructor (mouthfull!). A few girls appear to have had issues with this making their hair greasy/heavy but its perfect for my little bleached locks! It leave my hair soft, shiney, silky and well nourished! Definately a staple in my routine now :)
Sure Crystal Deodorant:
You can see this here.
Its pretty self explanatory though, if you don't use it you smell!! ;)
Bobby pins:

I personally dont think these get enough love! When was the last time you saw someone write a product rave about bobby pins!? I love these, i have blonde, brown, black, coloured, sparkly, big, small and teeny ones....and one with bows, hearts, various hello kitty ones... i think you get the picture! These are good for everything whether its when you get rained on and your fringe goes insane so you quickly quiff it... or your belt breaks so you fix it with a bobby pin, or the clip something to something else with it.. haha! These little things go much further than hair trust me... I think my strangest use for one ever was when i had to take my false lashes off on a night out and i clipped them together with a bobby pin and put them in my purse! Moving on...
Soap:

Once again, something really simple that has a ridiculously large list of uses... obviously you use it to get clean etc but it can also be used to flatten eyebrows amongst thousands of other things! I'm a bit funny about personal hygiene and with bars of soap starting at something like 12p in Tesco, theres no excuse!
Blusher:
Particularly this one

My favourite shade is 04 mauve. Most blushers can be used on the lips and cheeks so this is quick fix for me if im rushing somewhere and dont have time to do loads! Foundation, powder, blusher, eyeliner, mascara... thats the general running order when i only have about 3 seconds to get ready! powder blushes require a brush and cream can be messy when you're 'on the go' so a mousse is absolutely spot on :).
I wanna keep this fairly short and sweet because you can read other things that i cant get enough of here :)

FOTD and L'oreal telescopic explosion review
Hi everyone!! Hope you're all ok,, todays FOTD is using L'oreal Telescopic explosion mascara, this was on offer at my local Asda for £7 and i wanted to give it a shot :) its looks much scarier than it is... here goes!!
The packaging:

This mascara promises a 'revolutionary flexi-globe multi angle brush that can be used horizontally and vertically to give a spectacular result. Lashes look fanned out, fuller and curved for a wide eyed look'.
On the back of the packaging L'oreal says:
'BIG BANG for your lashes! Technological innovation: new flexi globe brush. Ultra precise and easy to use, small and spherical, the brush captures and seperates each and every lash. The formula glides on easily and evenly' blahh blahhh blahhhhhh....
We've read it all before haven't we? Anyway, heres a brush comparison..

Top to bottom:
l'oreal telescopic explosion, Rimmel glam eyes, Maybelline colossal, L'oreal telescopic original

Left to right:

Onto the review, please excuse my eyebrows in the following pictures!!
No mascara on my lashes:

^oops these are all squished! sorry... hope you can see them ok! :)
One coat of mascara:

Two coats of mascara:

FOTD:

Face: mac sff in nc15, mac msf in light, rimmel recover concealer, maybelline dream mousse blusher in 04 mauve, sleek contour kit in light
Eyes: mac pigment in shimmertime all over lid, mac e/s in dazzlelight as a highlight and woodwinked in the outer corner and under my eye, rimmel liquid liner and L'oreal telescopic explosion mascara
Lips: mac creme cup lipstick and benefit her glossiness in who are you wearing?
Overall this mascara was lovely! It was a bit fiddly to use at first and it takes a few minutes to work out the best angles for your lashes and how to coat them best, its also quite time onsuming because the brush is so dinky!! I walked to uni and back in pouring rain tonight and it hasnt smudged or run at all so im definately really really really impressed!! I'd give this an 8/10 purely because of how fiddly it is and how difficult it is to get used to at first!!
wow, this was long! hope you enjoyed it xo
