I've been meaning to write this post for months to warn people about the extra suffering that the recession brings that no one would ever think of.
Take Big Wardrobe, its a swapping site, its completely free, and naturally, due to the recession, theyre seeing millions of swaps go through.
On the outside this seems absolutely perfect!!Swapping your old stuff for someone elses stuff could be perfect right? HELL NO.
Now, dont get me wrong, i took part it quite a few really good swaps, i got an elizabeth arden skincare set, and various other bits and bobs, i did have a slight problem with a mac glitter that was listed as a pigment but the woman sent me a mac shadow as well to say sorry!!
Then i realised a particular user had been sending me quite a few messages, one in particular asked for a swap on my maybelline colossal mascara... now i dont know if you girls remember but when the colossal was first bought out, and up until VERY recently, it was not packaged on cardboard, but loose, and didnt even have a plastic seal around the lid... i think the idea was that women could look at the brush.. im not sure..
Now, the mascara was listed with a borjouis blusher but it clearly said in the list info 'SELLING SEPERATELY'... User X we will call her, messaged me asking for the mascara, not the blush as well.. i sent her a swap request.. the mascara for a james brown hair mask (the one that was free in that magazine!).. thats a STEAL right? a brand new mascara for the price of something you got free? brilliant.
She accepted the swap, i sent the mascara (after quite a long delay.. im not going to lie, i was ridiculously busy and just didnt have time). The mascara was in a brown jiffy bag with a pink post it wrapped around it saying thank you for the swap, and my home address to send the hair mask to...
A few days later i recevied FOUR seperate accounts of negative feedback from user X, saying the mascara was used, not to swap with me, that i was disgusting, and that i only sent one item when i was supposed to send two. confusing huh?
I messaged her, and realised she had posted LOTS of slanderous things about me everywhere and had even posted PICTURES in the forums of the mascara, with the formula splodged all around the neck - something she must have done herself because it wasn't like that when i sent it.... panic set in, i didnt want a bad reputation on the site, but over 100 women had already read the post in the forum!!
My first tactic? message the user. i just received nasty, slanderous messages back.... ok then..
Message the complaints people? They email me back saying that user X works for Big Wardrobe as a forum moderator and that i need to send them evidence... so i did, i sent links of all the feedback and copies of the messages.
Still they refused to do anything.. so i told them i was going to write about it on my blog, yeah, alright, i admit it, i made a few threats, gave a few numbers of the 'snowball' effect that happens in blogland, gave the example of sunlove, and told them how utterly disgusted i was with their 'service'.
The reply? 'We're going to sue you if you attempt to ruin the reputation of our website on your blog'. nice. real nice.
So i took some legal advice, turns out i should be ok providing i make it very clear to you lot that as terrible as big wardrobe is, and how some of the members are 'secret moderators or secret employees' ooooh and how youll receive abuse from some members and be slandered by them...
A lot of people have had very successful, positive experiences, and i am genuinly sure that mine was just a one off... but either way, i will never ever be using big wardrobe again.
Its up to you guys if your silly enough to use it/continue using it but if you do decide to, take pictures of everything you send before you send it, track your postage and keep an eye out for users who will try to trick you by asking for multiple swap and confusing you.
I tried to warn you! The recession does not meean you have to take shit from people, and does not mean that people can rip you off, stand your ground and cover your arses from every possible angle. Because as i have proven, people can, and will, tamper with things after they have left your hands!!
Sorry its a negative post, but its one that had to be written xx

That time I shaved Stew's head...
yeah, thats right....
now, let me just make something verrrry clear, i am not a qualified hairdresser. However since around the age of 13 i have been cutting and colouring hair for friends, ive glued extensions in on myself and others, ive coloured my hair more times than i could count, ive cut my own hair more times than i could count, and generally, i do sort of know what im talking about a little bit...
So, we did this:
The Equipment (this kit cost around £15)

Before:

After: (i know its not perfect, there are long bits and stuff...but i dont think its too bad for a first time EVER using clippers!!!!)

!!!!!!!!! gross.
Stew likes it, and i like it... no idea what sort of cut he will want next but ill give it my best shot, haha!!
