Zoya matte velvet

This polish isn't available in the UK as far as i know but i was lucky enough to get my hands on some!!

Photobucket
Photobucket
Photobucket

excuse the messy nails, i did them super quick just to try the polish out as i only got it in the mail today :)

so my shade of choice was 'dovima' and its matte black.
there is no way these photos show how matte and AWESOME my nails are right now, i didnt know whether i would be keen, but i absolutely LOVE it!!

the only thing i would say about this polish is my god does it dry quickly!! it took me a few practice nails to suss out the best way to apply because it dries almost instantly!! its a really good thing because two minutes after painting im taking photos and typing, but also a bad thing because it can make application tricky..

this cost me around $10 which comes out at about £6.50 at the moment, and i absolutely LOVE it!!a lot of girls have been posting videos and blogs about how thyre unsure about matte nails and i was too at first but ive fallen in love almost instantly :)

the Zoya Matte Velvet collection is made up of three colours and is limited edition so get your hands on it now or regret it later!! the other two colours are a grey and a red-ish colour, both gorgeous and i might buy those as well when i get paid!

The darker side of me...

Now i may be obsessed with make up and fashion but there is a whole other side of me that ive decideed to expose to blogland. When i was younger my phases went in this order:
- goth
- chav
- emo
- 'scene'
- 'indie'
- Today!!

These days i listen to every single genre of music imaginable (although im very very very partial to a bit of ska and a bit of electro) i wear every type of clothing imaginable (from floaty dresses to black skinnies and tartan tops...) and i've found who i want to be!

BUT i still have 8 ear piercings including my tragus, and i kept my nose and lip piercings...

there is however, one more thing i like to adorn my body with, and that is tattoos!

PLEASE read this before you scroll down:

- ALL of my tattoos have a meaning, they are not there for any fashion or 'cool' purposes'
- ALL of my tattoos are custom work, DRAWN BY ME. that is why i have blog stamped all of these pictures, please do not take any of them, use them in any way, or do anything else with them without emailing me first. i will be absolutely distraught.
i am not putting these photos on here so that others can use them, i just wanted to share a bit more 'about me' with you!
- ALL of my tattoos really, bloody, hurt. a lot!! so you had better all think im dead hard!!

Here goes:

Number One:
Photobucket
Photobucket

I had this done on the 24th (or something) of june 2008. it was my first tattoo. i spent nearly 8 months coming up with a design and perfecting it. i had it done by dannii at tattoo crazy in cambridge, then re-touched by debs at the same studio. all in all it took about an hour and wasn't really that painful.
Doves represent freedom and i had an extremely hard childhood, i had this done to represent my freedom from that, to mark turning 18 and being an adult. leaving my past behind.
It only cost about £60 in total! (its only outline though... i decided to keep it simple)

Number Two:
Photobucket

This is on my left foot, i had the first bit done (the lettering) at Selfridges in birmingham by a bloke called Rob, he was awesome and it wasn't too painful. Diane is my mum's name, i had this done because she was in hospital at the time, i was visitting a friend in birmingham and the docs had just told me they didn't think my mum was going to survive. The forget me nots are my mums favourite flower and i had those added on in Derby, however at the time i wasnt aware of good studios and happened to go to a dodgy one, im having the flowers re-done in a few months :)
This one took about an hour all together and was quite painful as it is down the side of my foot.

It cost about £80

Number Three:
Photobucket

Photobucket

This one is my absolute favourite. I had it done by a girl called Ashleigh at seventh day tattoo in derby, she is absolutely ASTONISHING. This one doesn't have as much meaning as the rest to be honest, i've just always loved japanese cuture and cherry blossoms. It took me about two weeks to draw this and sort it all out, i handed the design to ashleigh, she made some tiny alterations, then i let her loose on my foot. she chose all of the colours etc and i absolutely adore it. It was 4 hours + of pain and i have never felt anything like it, the bit on my toe was excruciating. i would not recommend toe tattoos! in these photos i had only just had it done, hence the blood and SEVERE swelling!!
This one only actually cost me £80 (which shows just how much i was ripped off on the one on my left foot!!) ahh i just love it so much!! the healing process was so difficult and some bits are a bit different now, but its still absolutely stunning..

So yeah!!
I'm getting number four done in about two weeks and im really excited! You'll all hear more about it at the time :)

The one thing i would say about tattoos is that if you are considering having your 'frist one' think really carefully. as soon as you have one its impossible to stop. its like an addiction (as crazy as that sounds, anyone with a tattoo will agree!) and make sure they mean something. seeing people having a tattoo because it is 'cool' at the time is heartbreaking, they'll regret that for the rest of their lives.

if you want to know anything just comment or email :) im pretty knowledgeable about them these days!

Spotlight: chocolate brown nails

Photobucket

Left: Barry M Nail Pain in 129 'chocolate brown'
Right: George @ Asda Quick Dry Nail Varnish in 92 'rich chocolate'

I've already posted a youtube video with these in but wanted to be a bit more detailed.

Photobucket

As you can see here the colours are completely different, in my video i described Barry M as 'milk chocolate' and the George polish as 'dark chocolate'. I absolutely love them both and if you read below you can see a bit more!

Barry M 129

Colour: 10/10 - its amazing, a nice creamy rich brown after two coats (as seen above).

Texture: 9/10 - because it dries quickly you have to work quite swiftly with it but its by no means difficult! also its a lovely 'runny-ish' texture which makes painting your nails really easy. thick gloopy polish is awful!

Price: 9/10 - its about £2.98 (i know its cheap but the asda one is cheaper!).

Amount of coats needed: two. one was almost enough but two gave a block colour :).

'Lastibility': 9/10 - last about 4 days without chipping (i know i only bought it today but my other barry m polishes last about 4 days!).

Drying time: 10/10 - it took about two minutes for the first coat to dry, then another two for the second coat!

George@Asda 92

Colour: 9/10 - its a rich brown but has a very red/plummy tone to it...

Texture: 10/10 - goes on incredibly easily and is a relatively 'runny' consistency which makes it a lot easier to work with!

Price: 10/10 - it was £1.50! bargain!!

Amount of coats needed: two. the first coat was really quite streaky.

'Last-ability': 5/10 - mine chipped on the first day, however i didnt use a top coat or anything so im giving it 5/10 cause i didnt really try hard enough to make it last haha!

Drying time: 10/10!! each coat dried in about 45 seconds!!

Hope this was useful for you all :)
i loveeeeeeeeeeeeee brown nails!! x

FOTD & NOTD!!

Ok, so i needed a quick look for work today but i wanted it to be all 'glowy' and summery, it literally took me 10 minutes (and that was with leaving primer to soak in for two minutes!!! so 8 minutes...) this is perfect for one of those days when you cant be bothered!

Face: a mix of mac sff in nc15 and borjouis 10hr sleep effect foundation in 71, barbara daly for tescos 'wet or dry' foundation/powder thing, i love using this as a powder as it gives quite a full coverage, no 7 high lights in pink as a blush, and mac msf in porcelain pink on my cheekbones :)

Eyes: UDPP, the palest beigey sparkley colour in the sleek 'storm pallette' as a brow highlight, then the matte beige colour (same pallette) all over the lid, THEN mac e/s in creme de meil in the inner corners and mac e/s in woodwinked in the outer corner, lashings of rimmel glam eyes mascara in black to finish

Lips: nothinggggg, normally only wear vaseline to work!

also let me introduce you to my new obsession:

chocolate brown nails.

ive been meaning to try the barry m one for AGES but never got round to buying it.. so when i was in asda today i picked this up, its George, quick dry nail varnish in no 25 Rich Chocolate. it was £1.50!!

ive already expressed my love for their nail polish in 'raincloud' (a pale grey) before and i love this one just as much!! that picture is just ONE COAT, two coats give a gorgeous, shiney rich brown colour. omg, im in love.

also im SOOOOOOO glad asda have changed their make up packaging from that awful cheap looking lilac colour to straight up black. lovely!

how are you all? xxx

FOTD and I'm really unimpressed with

the Illasmaqua website, its so difficult to use and confusing!! I think the nearest counter to me is manchester which sucks because im curious about their products and the quality of them.. oh well, if i can be bothered then i'll try an work it out haha!

I just want to quickly appologise with my lack of posts lately, im having some quite big problems in my new house and to be perfectly honest when i got in from work today i just had some food and went to bed, for the first time in a long long while i rang my dad and cried, think i worried him quite a lot actually :( as always though he managed to cheer me up and convince me that i was better than the person involved and that i just needed to rise above it, hopefully over the next few days ill manage to sort myself out but all ive done tonight is cry on stew and make his t-shirt wet! whoops... its extremely rare that i let things like this get to me but for some reason at the moment everything has just got on top of me so yeah..

by means of an appology for being so rubbish lately here are some photos of the make up i wore to go out with stew last night (i needed to get out of the house)
i took some with flash and some without as the lighting was awful and wouldn't show my make up well at all..

lat night i created my best ever smokey eyes, i went for the standard look but used 'beauty marked' e/s which is a deep black purple instead of just an intense black so yeah! ive been using my msf every.single.day, i absolutely LOVE the finish, its the perfect colour for me, a stunning pale pink with slight shimmer that ive been hunting for for ages!!

PhotobucketPhotobucket
PhotobucketPhotobucket
^ once again im really sorry for the crap photos, i make no claims of being a photographer and sometimes find taking photos for my blog really difficult, the photo with flash of my eyes closed makes it look as though i had a sharp line between my shadows! i did not!!!!!! i was so proud of this look because of how well blended it was, its the best smokey eye ive done so far :)

Face: mac sff in nc15, no 7 loose powder, mac msf in porcelain pink, natural collection bronzing pearls (to contour) and barbara daly for tesco illuminating powder buffed into my cheekbones..
Eyes: UDPP, mac e/s in white frost, dazzlelight, satin taupe, beauty marked, and statey black, sleek ink pot in black, the primer from l'oreal beauty tubes mascara (i snapped mine in half because i only like the white end! haha), no 7 lift and curve mascara, and l'oreal telescopic clean definition mascara.

why did i use three mascaras?
- primer, if you get it right can really really boost your lashes, i love using the white end of my l'oreal beauty tubes mascara to create a really WOW look for going out.
- mascaras with 'plastic' definition brushes are fantastic for getting every little lash and really defining and lengthening your lashes BUT the brushes dont 'hug' your lashes at the root... the more mascara you get in the roots of your lashes the more intense your final look will be!! i use my no 7 lift and curve mascara as a first coat to get some produt into the roots of my lashes as it has a soft mascara brush :)
- as i have mentioned above, plastic mascara brushes give more definition so i use the l'oreal clean definition over the top to finish my eyes off and make sure ive got every single tiny lash :)

Lips: just some naked honey body salve!

ohhhh life, i really hope you all like this :/ sorry its a bit rubbish :(

As requested: NIVEA Happy Time Body Lotion!

Excuse the 'stolen off google' image, i still haven't managed to unpack my camera, in fact, ive probably lost it :| fab. anyway!! i actually won this in a cosmopolitan competition, along with some paul smith dry shampoo and a borjouis blusher! oh and mum rang me yesterday to say more came through in the post and shes sending it up to uni so even MORE reviews on the way!

Nivea say:
NIVEA Happy Time Body is a feel-good body lotion that makes your whole body smile! It keeps that feeling of lightness and freshness all day long and energises not only the body, but the senses too. We love this gorgeous silky textured lotion enriched with natural Bamboo Extracts and Milk Proteins, because it provides long lasting moisturisation and helps to strengthen your skins natural protection. Your silky soft skin with giggle every day when you experience new NIVEA Happy Time Body Lotion. Infused with the gorgeous feel-good scent of orange flower, its what happiness is made of!

This retails on the Boots website for £5.98

I say:
You would be better off buying a bottle of tesco's baby lotion for around £2! Yes, this smells great, it has a lovely fresh citrus-ey scent which i do love and the packaging is funky. It has a great texture and smooths on easily and does make your skin feel softer. However, i didnt feel much 'happier', its quite runny, so a bit messy to apply, and it doesn't sink in very quickly at ALL!! in fact, i waited nearly an hour then decided to get dressed anyway as it didnt seem to be doing a lot. I agree with nivea that this has a fab scent for summer but i think their claims of skin 'giggling every day' and 'energising senses' are a step too far. If you have money to burn then by all means spend £6 on a (very small) bottle of body lotion, but in my opinion this does exactly the same job as the huge bottle of tesco's baby lotion (its baby pink and has a little drawing of a baby on it) that costs me about £2 and i use it practically every day.

please remember these views are all mine, nivea did not send me the bottle, i won it in a competition and i have not been asked by anyone (apart from my readers) to do this review!
