How are you all? Have you all entered my Aussie Giveaway? It ends tomorrow! Go go go!
Lets cut to the chase, I'm here to talk handbags. I start my new job this Tuesday coming and with my first 'pay cheque' (what is the English way of saying that? Pay Cheque is so American!) I'm going to buy myself a new laptop (I can't quite decide between a MacBook and a White Sony Vaio at the moment) purely because mine doesn't even have it's last legs anymore, they fell off a long, long time ago!
Aaaaand with my second 'pay cheque' I'll be splurging on a new handbag! First, as a 'first real job treat' and second as a 'well done for getting a first class degree' treat!
SO, here's my dilemma... I can't decide what to buy!

The Giant Mulberry Bayswater in 'Sparkle Leopard' is quite literally SCREAMING at me 'buy meeeeeeee, buyyyy meeeee'. It is me all over. Slightly oversized, dark in colour, and leopard print. My god.
It's £900...

The Louis Vuitton Alma BB in Black Epi Leather is also calling my name a bi, I love the semi patent-ness and strap options and well, I just generally love it! I'm not so into the monogram bags, they just aren't my style at all!
It's £800

Then, of course... there is the Miu Miu 'bow bag'.. I'd either get this in black or grey I think as they're the most wearable colours! I know this is a bit 'oh everyone has that one' but I think they're a bit dreamy!
It's £900
I think it's pretty obvious what my style is... plain, fairrrrly understated (as in no HUGE chanel/LV/anything logos) and leather.
Before we go any further (ooh-err) I want to explain something because I know someone will have something negative to say about this post! I have never, ever in my life been able to just say 'oh, £800? fuck it. I'll take it' so please don't think I'm taking spending almost a grand on a handbag lightly, I'm not. At all. I just want to be able to look at something beautiful and yes, a bit expensive and be able to say 'I earnt that and paid for it myself'. I've never been particularly 'well off' before, just comfortable and most of my more expensive things have been gifts from my Dad and Stew. Buying myself a 'proper' handbag is a huge deal for me and it'll be a moment of fear/pride/joy when I hand over my debit card!
So, that out of the way, if you were me what would you buy? Not specifically just out of those three above, but in general? I'd love some suggestions for beautiful handbags that mayve aren't so 'mainstream' because lets face it, I don't have a huge amount of knowledge of them! haha :)
Ta for reading! xo
ps - don't worry, when I finally take the plunge and type my PIN number into the little machine in Selfridges/wherever, I'll be sure to blog about it! ♥
id get the miu miu one just because i think its a little more classic? with the colour and shape and stuff. and it's a beaut. and i want it. CAN WE SHARE? PURRRLEEEEEASE XXX
ReplyDeleteI love love love my Mulberry bag its gorgeous and I use it all the Tom like you I got it to celebrate a significant event in my work life!! But I do love the Miu Miu and that would defo be my next choice after the Mulberry quite simply coz a girls got to have a Mulberry bag :-) x
ReplyDeleteI literally just fell in love with the Mulberry Bayswater bag... And judging by the way you described it against the other two, I think you should get that one. You seem a bit more excited over the thought of owning that Mulberry! xx
ReplyDeleteAm a huge Mulberry fan and have a few of their bags - the Bayswater is such a classic, and the one you like is a very cool twist to the classic, I'd so go for that one. Although, am a bit of a Louis fan too and have a few of those. Ooh, choices, choices! Ok, if pushed, I'd say defo the Bayswater.
ReplyDeleteYou could also check out Chloe bags - their Paraty is rather lovely & in the same price range. Or the Yves St Laurent Roady is kind of bloody lovely :) Can't wait to find out what you're going to go for! I spend FAR too much money in the Selfridges bag hall - but that's only because its too much fun :)
ReplyDeleteThe Miu Miu one for definite! It's gorgeous, roomy and would never date!! Post pictures as soooon as you get it! Live the dream for me ;) haha

OMG people would seriously say negative things about this? Erg I can just imagine them.
ReplyDeleteIt's not like your getting your parents to buy it, if you want to spend money (that YOU earned) then do it!
But yeh the mulberry one. I'm having the same issues ATM but I'm tacky and am gonna get a LV monogrammed speedy haha. I liked the alba but the larger sized one in th purple. But mulberry is def the best quality and it suits your personality. It's fun for going out but smart and classic for work.
(btw my bag will also be bought with my money, just icase anyone is gonna be a flange)
Xxxx
I love the Miu Miu and the Mulberry!!
ReplyDeleteI would say maybe not in leopard print as you are going to be keeping this bag for years and years and your style may change, and this may not be your style in 5 years to come! So if it was me personally I would stick to something more plain that I would always love! xx
THE MIU MIU! It has to be the Miu Miu. *ahem*
ReplyDeleteGood on you finding something to enjoy with your hard earned cash. When I get myself into a "proper" job, I'd like to save big chunks of my first 12 months pay packets to have a really amazing holiday- I've always wanted to go to Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand.
