Never, ever, ever buy mascara from Superdrug!!

Yesterday I had a minor breakdown regarding my final year at uni etc and verity dragged me to the shops to have a mooch round and possibly buy some stuff i definitely didn't need... (i didn't buy anything by the way).

My local superdrug in Derbys westfield centre (yes, named and shamed!) never ceases to disgust and disapoint me. for the following reasons:

There is one old hag of a shop assistant who works the make-up section. By 'works' I mean she follows customers around, breathing her hag breath down their neck and making them feel uncomfortable. No old hag shop assistant, i am not going to steal anything. thanks.

The stands are always absolutely DISGUSTING. foundation splodged everywhere, fingerprints in eyeshadows, dents in lipsticks... you name it. They are never stocked up and are always in an appalling state.

etc etc etc you get the idea.

Anyway, yesterday REALLY took the biscuit...
Let me start by saying that I have never, ever, in my whole life, applied a product to my face, anywhere on my face, whilst in the shop, from a tester on a stand. Because even the thought of it absolutely repulses me.

Whilst in superdrug, being followed by old hag... I spotted a girl applying mascara from a tube that was on the stand. FUCKING MASCARA?!!!!!!

Old hag slinked up to her and said (and i quote):
'excuse me, can you not apply the mascara to your eyes, its not a tester and we have to sell that'

stupid gross girl stopped applying the mascara, closed the tube, replaced it to the stand and walked off. Old hag followed her.

errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.... rewind a bit....
They left a used mascara on the stand to be sold to someone else? after actually witnessing the girl apply it to her EYES?! WHAT!!!

If I ever found out any of the mascaras i had bought had been used by some tramp in the shop, and then left on the shelf I would be repulsed. I only ever buy mascaras that come in the sealed blister pack type things, or mascaras from places like mac that are in boxes etc...

When I got to the till (buying deoderant, lol) I mentioned it to the lady on the till who said 'yeah babe, we told the girl off'... I replied saying that wasn't really the point, the girl could have had an infection etc and she just shrugged at me?

What do you think about this? Do you, like me, think the mascara should have been taken off of the shelf and thrown away? or that old hag should have made her pay for it?

sorry this is a bit of a ramble! be warned! never buy mascara from superdrug!!!

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish.. the good and the bad

A while ago I was sent some goodies from Liz Earle for review purposes, I wanted to use them for some time before writing about them and I'm glad I waited now as I can give you an all-round view of this mega-hyped product!

Let me start off by saying I was absolutely astonished by the beautiful way the products were packaged when they were sent to me...

Each product was wrapped perfectly in tissue with its own little sticker and i was sent loads of brand and product information, something I feel is really skipped by lots of PR's who simply chuck the products into a jiffy bag with no notes or anything!! As you can see from the photo I was sent a few bits but I've decided to start by reviewing the cleanse&polish as I think its the most famous Liz Earle product!

I was sent the Cleanse and Polish 'starter kit' which includes the cleanser and two muslin cloths in a BEAUTIFUL little Liz Earle zippy bag! Perfect for travelling!
(appologies for the stock photo, I lost the one I took :(

Pro's:
*This is really easy and nice to use, the pump on the bottle is really convenient and the packaging is beautiful.
*It left my skin feeling clean, smooth, soft and refreshed
*It removed every last scrap of make-up even with just one pump of product
*After a few uses it seemed to really be clearing my skin up and reducing the redness on my cheeks
*Its actually really nice and relaxing using a hot muslin cloth to wipe off the cleanser
*The little bag means you know where everything is and its all together - no lost cloths/lids/bits and bobs here!

Con's
*At £13 for the starter kit and £11.50 for just the pump bottle of cleanser this is (in my humble student opinion) quite expensive and may not be suited to everyones budget
*Sometimes its a bit of effort to get eye make-up off (especially waterproof mascara, i found i had to use two and a half pumps of product to get all of it off)
*After about two weeks of using this every other day (i use a facial scrub on the other days because my skin can get quite dry on my cheeks!) it really broke me out around my jawline!! As I have mentioned in lots of other blog posts, I hardly ever get spots. Ever. And I have never, in my whole life, had spots on my cheeks or jawline. The only place I ever get them is on my chin and forehead, I have a few blackheads on my nose and sometimes get teeny weeny spots there but spots on my jawline is a whole new thing for me!! Really freaked me out when I started noticing them! For this reason I've stopped using the cleanser for a while :(

Don't get me wrong, there are many reasons why this product has received so much love and praise and i REALLY love how it makes my skin look and feel and i love the process of using it even more!! Its such a shame!!

Remember, everyones skin is different!

You can buy the cleanse and polish here!! :)

Requested: more music!

So a lot of people have commented or emailed me saying they love my music posts and want to see more of them!

I spotted this on a friends Tumblr (by the way, you can find mine here!! and decided it would be a cute and fun way to find out the music i love, and i'm also going to turn it into a tag as i don't think enough bloggers write about other things that are important to them besides what they have bought ;) I believe its really important to show your personality alongside your make-up/hair/clothes...

So here goes, basically what you do, is type the words in bold into your iTunes (media player, winamp) library, and write down the first song that comes up!!

Happy: Happy holidays, you bastard - Blink 182

Love: Once loved - Ruiner

Hate: Day old hate - Dallas Green

Light: Shine the light - H2O

Dark: Dark was the night - Mouthwash

Good: No good - Plan B

Bad: Johnny was a bad boy - Wiley

Smile: I wish i could smile - Sonic Boom 6

Cry: Whether to cry or destroy - Shai Hulud

Girl: Girls - Dizzee Rascal

Boy: A boy brushed red living in black and white - Underoath

Sad: Sad but true - Transplants

Lost: Liquor & love lost - Bring me the horizon

so yeah!! i tag anyone who cares about stuff other than lipstick!! get on it :) make sure you comment on this and link me to yours so i can read them all!!
