"I'm covered in paint and glitter!"

Hi Everyone! Happy monday :) as some of you already know, my housemate (and bestie!) is a photographer and i'm a trained make-up artist - an absolute match made in heaven! We collaborate quite a lot, either just to mess around, or to do a 'proper' photoshoot for her projects etc... today was a 'proper' day and involved a 7:30am start. i nearly died.

She was shooting a few models on an 'alex box inspired' photoshoot, for the record, alex box inspired tends to involve:
- LOTS of face paint
- LOTS of glitter
- Blue lips
- Gold lips
etc etc etc

As you can imagine, i gradually got into a MASSIVE mess (and completely ruined yesterdays leopard print nails) :( but it all worked out ok in the end!! I'm going to post a few blogs this evening containing everything from kit photos, to 'action shots' of me doing my thaaaaang, to the actual finished images! Are you excited? I am!

First up, my kit! Now as I knew exactly what verity wanted, i didn't take anywhere near a full kit, i just threw a few bits and bobs into my traincase and off we went to the studio!

Top and bottom sections contained face paints, baby wipes, sudocrem, surgical spirit, sanitising equipment, sponges and clips, a cape, two sets of brushes... etc

I didn't take many lip products because they weren't really needed, i just took a few just in case!! Other 'stuff' included hair glue (for the false eyelashes, it works SO WELL and is really really cheap - you just have to be super duper careful with it), rhinestones, glitter, about 10 pairs of false lashes, 5 million blushers, vaseline to stick glitter on with and my alice in wonderland pallette :)

the shoot itself started off as a bit of a disaster, we only had half of the studio room booked - after all how much space do you need for a few face shots? and another group of students wandered in and proceeded to 'fanny around' with equipment, lights, cameras etc... stopping every few minutes to disturb myself and verity who were setting up:

'scuse me i have NO IDEA what im doing... can you help me'
'omggggg, what does this one do?' etc...

I eventually was pushed to my absolute limit and told them they shouldnt be in there if they didnt know what they were doing and they went and snitched on me to a teacher! Who came in and HAD A GO AT ME for 'attitude' O_o <-- that was what my face looked like

Are you freaking kidding me? this is UNIVERSITY. not primary school! Anyway the teacher showed them what to do and we spent the rest of the day waiting for them to finish taking a million photos with the camera set to 'auto' which meant it was setting the overheads off every 2 seconds! I think Verity nearly went insane! We got the final result that we wanted though so alls well that ends well!!

xo
