That said, I hate Benefit! I've owned:
foundations (too orange!)
concealers (too dark!)
mascaras (dry out quickly, massively over priced)
lip sticks (only last two minutes, very drying)
eyeliners (they're alright, but again, ridiculously expensive for what they are)
and lipglosses (sticky, messy, expensive, not very pigmented)
One thing i have always refused to buy is their little boxes of blusher/bronzer etc... Yes they look incredibly cute and i'd love to try Sugarbomb but for me £23 for a cardboard box is ridiculous! Anyway, my housemate bought Georgia a while back (she clearly didnt have me with her for advice ;) haha!) and i decided to have a fiddle with it today... here goes:
First up, the packaging:

Verity keeps this in her make-up bag, so its not just knocking about it her handbag, and look at the state of it! the box is battered and dog eared.. not cool. Shes gutted its in that state because it cost her so much money!

What i will say is that this smells really nice! hahaha!
My face with no blusher or anything at all:

In true Cat fashion i hadn't done my hair (check out the frizz!) and im still wearing Stews t-shirt from bed! oh well! nothing like showing people no one looks perfect all that time ;) if ever in my case!
My face with Georgia applied (actually quite heavily!!):

errrrr... where is it?!!!!
My face with georgia and a bit of borjouis blusher over the top:

My cheeks are quite red naturally so i try to only apply blush etc lightly or i just end up looking hot/flushed! However Georgia literally does not show up on my skin at all, i'd say the only thing it does (if anything) is gives my skin a bit of a glow.. something i could achieve for half the price, if not less!
Although Georgia smells really good and looks really pretty, you actually can't see it on the skin! im NC15 so its not like my skin is too dark for it to show up!
People seem to have had really good experiences with coralista and thrrrob and i do love the look of them on the cheeks but the packaging still really puts me off investing over £20 in one of these...
I adore the look of Benefit packaging (the compacts are really cute!) but for me the prices are just too high and the products aren't effective enough to warrant me spending that sort of money!
What about you? have you had really good or really bad experiences with Benefit? I'd love to know if i'm alone in this or if its a problem a lot of girls/women have?
Sorry this was negative! do not buy georgia! haha :)
xo
I've never got the whole benefit thing either. I can achieve exactly the looks I want with my much less pricey, much longer lasting makeup. A friend of mine works on a benefit stall and raves about the makeup, but I really don't understand it. It's sooo expensive!
ReplyDeleteAt a benefit counter Georgia has been sold to me as a product that works to warm up the complexion, not necessarily as a blush, although that option works for me as I am so stupidly pale hah. I like the product but I agree with you that it's too expensive for what it is. xo
ReplyDeleteTbh Benefit is a brand that ive not tried the only thing i have is a lip gloss i got free from a copy of glamour magazine a while back. Ive heard a lot of good things about some of the products but after hearing yourside i dont think i want to waste my money even trying :)
ReplyDeleteI picked up a benefit catalogue yest in my local dept store (in Dublin) and the prices were shocking! I think their eyeshadows are really boring and the rest of their products are very gimmickey.
ReplyDeleteI think Benefit are so over priced; my sister used to have quite a bit of their makeup and although it's not really really bad there are so many high street products that are cheaper and work better!
ReplyDeleteLove the packaging though! Those blusher boxes look cute even if they are impratical!
xxx
I have never tried any of their blush- even though they look pretty i dont want to pay £20 odd for a box either. I had a face primer from there that was quite nice and after reading so much hype surrounding the bad gal lash i did buy that too, but felt so let down by it. The SA's at the counter in my town were really snobby when i last went in too so i tend to avoid the brand alltogether these days.
ReplyDeleteI agree about their foundations..far too orange! Never buying one again! And that was after the woman testing it and matching my colour for me. Fool! And when it comes to Georgia...yes..my mum has it, I tried it, I saw nothing. No love lost there! But in fairness I think some of their other ones like benefit10 and coralista have sliiiight colour haha xx
ReplyDeleteThanks for doing this, I'm about the same skintone as you and I'd been tempted to get this one! Only because I've loved Coralista so much, I've honestly use it probably 5 out of 7 days in a week since I got it last August and I don't even think I'm close to hitting pan yet. And I don't have the battered box problem because it's nothing something I take out with me 'cause it's too bulky! I don't tend to touch up blush throughout the day anyway, but now I know I definitely wouldn't be able to carry it round!

Benefit is soooooo overpriced but they have adorable packaging (which I think is very misleading)
ReplyDeleteHowerver, I tried there Creaseless cream e/s an I love them, but that is about the only I love from them then :-)
I completely agree, excellent packaging but ludicrously overpriced. I have one old lipstick of theirs (a bright red one that is now discontinued) and it was fine but nothing special. I really do like the bathina range, but again so pricey :(
ReplyDeleteBenefit is one of those hit or miss brands. I love some of their products, mostly powders actually and even though they are expensive I find that they last forever. You can also get them cheaper in America so I try to stock up when I get the chance. Quite a few of my staple products are from Benefit but I've never been interested in their eye or lip range.
ReplyDeleteI like the look of Georgia but when I tried it, it did nothing for me so it had to stay at the counter.x
I have almost all of the benefit boxes, and I hate georgia too, doesn't do anything...so now I mix it with other blushes to tone them down a little
